Alan Dodge, one of Australia’s most experienced and respected authorities on the visual arts and a long-serving member of the John Curtin Gallery Advisory Board, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters by Curtin in August.
The award recognised his significant contribution to the arts over a 40-year career, as well as his mentorship and advocacy of arts education and accessibility.
In presenting the award Vice-Chancellor Professor Terry paid tribute to his leadership, willingness to share his knowledge, enthusiasm and commitment to the arts and education over many years.
Director Chris Malcolm said Mr Dodge had made an enormous contribution to the John Curtin Gallery.
“Alan is a wonderful ambassador for the Gallery and has provided fantastic support and encouragement over many years.
“I am delighted the University has recognised his contribution to the Gallery and to the arts sector more broadly through this honour.”
